Happy Halloween!

I had big plans for this holiday that may have involved a bridal veil and Kate Middleton. Alas, it was not to be because my Goodwill sucked the day I went to shop, and I refuse to pay full price for a costume or anything that I will not wear on a regular basis. What’s a girl to do in a costume emergency? Go to Target, obv., and walk around until inspiration hits.

And inspiration did indeed hit in the form of a very pretty patterned scarf and a gorgeous red cloche. From there, it was Halloween history.

Dress, Talbots
Jacket, Talbots (given to me from my mom)
Tights, Old Navy
Hat, Target
Scarf, Target
Gloves, borrowed from my grandma
Purse, Coach Outlet
This is my interpretation of the 1930s, with a little 1950s thrown in.

Thank you to my fabulous sister-in-law Abby for taking these pics at her and my brother’s Halloween party on Saturday!

And just because - Hamlet in his Halloween costume. He LOVES it.*

You look fabulous and love your hat. Your dog look adorable.
Thank you! I may be biased but he is pretty darn cute.
Great vintage inspired look!
Red Soles and Red Wine
Thank you! That’s what I was going for!
Such a classy Halloween costume!
Oh I don’t know, Beth – yours was pretty damn classy too!
Cute! What a fun costume. And I wish my cats would tolerate costumes – dogs are so much more agreeable.
Notice the chewy by his feet? He was totally bribed for this picture. The minute he finished it, he wanted nothing to do with the costume and tried to rip it completely off.
Cute costume! Homemade is always best

I agree!
You are a show stopper in that red hat! I love it I love it! Perfect look and those shoes are beyond cute. However I must admit that Mr. Hamlet looks rather dashing as a pumpkin!
Cute! I love period costumes! Found you on What I Wore. I dressed up as Quorra from Tron! http://yellowblackbird.blogspot.com/2011/10/haloween-quorra-from-tron-and-clark.html
Aww thank you! You looked amazing too! I’m so impressed with your costume.
you look so fab! What a great idea!
Thank you so much!
You look great in hats! Is this the one you were talking about on Twitter? Because I love it on you. Very fabulous Halloween costume. Hamlet is so stinking cute in his little pumpkin costume.
Awww thank you so much!! Nope, not this hat. But I do love this hat and I will definitely be incorporating it into future outfits! I’m trying to bring hats back. Totally jealous of Brits and their fab headwear.
Travis can’t stand it when I dress Hamlet up, but I just can’t help it when he’s that adorable!
So cute! And I agree, I refuse to pay full price for some ridiculously-priced costume in stores.
Hamlet is… well, a ham! So cute!
I get the appeal of having a costume ready to go – but they’re so often cheap compared to what you paid. Just not for me.
Great hat. I have one like it, and I can’t find it. Makes me sad.
Oh no!! That’s the worst! I hope you find it soon!
