I watched my first Olympics when I was nine – or at least it’s the first I can remember. From the splendor of the opening ceremonies to my favorite event – ice skating – the Olympics became one of my favorite traditions. So of course I had to dress up in gold in honor of the games starting.
Shirt, J. Crew
Earrings and heels, LOFT
I always loved gymnastics. Then 1996 happened – and every girl I knew, including me, fell in love and wanted to be a gymnast. I even had a birthday party at my local gym that year.
Yep – that was me on my 11th birthday, wearing my brand new GK leotard (that was too small but I didn’t tell my parents because that would mean I wouldn’t have a special leotard to wear on my birthday). Best party ever. We even posed just like the Magnificent Seven poster I had hanging in my room.
Ok, so I’ll never get to the Olympics. And
pull a muscle when I try to can barely do a cartwheel anymore. But I still get excited when it’s Olympics time. My favorite events are gymnastics, cycling, diving and swimming (Ryan Lochte, yum). What will you be watching?
