thank you + blog outtakes: 2012, part 1

This weekend marks a special anniversary for me – it’s my one-year blogiversary. A year ago, I wrote my first post introducing myself to the fashion blogging world. I really don’t want to annoy you with trite cliches, but I thought the best part about blogging would be sharing my outfits and style with my readers. Instead, it’s been meeting all of you – through your blogs, comments and advice. Thank you for reading. I can’t say it enough.

I’ve taken a little break lately – partly because my work life has been very busy and partly because I just needed a breather. I am trying to not feel guilty about it. If I feel anything, it’s like I’ve abandoned my readers. I really thought this summer was going to be more calm, but it’s been the opposite, both in stressful ways and also in very, very good ways. Right now I’m in that weird transition period where I’m trying to balance my life and it’s taking longer than I thought it would. So I apologize because I really love you all and don’t want to disappoint any of you. More outfits are coming, more blog hops are coming and I will find balance. Eventually.

Ugh, ok – enough of that. On to the chance to laugh at me.

My anniversary coincided with the middle of the year (ish, I know it’s August). So as a thank-you present, I decided that I cannot possibly fit a year of outtakes in one blog post. It has to be split up into two. And perhaps split up more. There are A TON of photos that don’t make it on the blog – I’d say for every outfit, I take between 20-30 photos. And usually only use four or five.

Not an outtake. I actually published this one. Now I’m not sure why. There’s something innate in me that thinks jumping in blog photos is a genius plan. (It’s not.)

So I read the Hunger Games and tried to do my hair like Katniss. It didn’t go well.

Jesus I hate this cardigan with this skirt. File under: why did I wear that? I have a perfectly good pink or orange cardi that would have been SO much better.

Hahahaha, yes, laugh now, ugly cardi. You are going in my Goodwill bag tonight.
