I’ve been dying my hair since high school – at first out of boredom, but now partly out of necessity (I don’t like my natural color). I’m not a rebellious person by nature, so my hair is my one chance to have some fun. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with colors beyond my normal blonde and added some temporary pink highlights – at least over the weekend. They wash out before I go to work on Monday, but I wondered – what’s wrong with some fun hair color in the corporate world?
To a certain extent, we have to leave some of our self-expression at home when we go to work. Whether it’s political beliefs or wild fashion, my office is a place where the way you present yourself shows your level of professionalism and respect. I try and bring some of my individuality to my work wardrobe with color – a pink pencil skirt instead of a black one, for example.
My office may not have an official dress code, but I’m pretty sure crazy hair colors wouldn’t go unnoticed. And yet as long as my outfit is professional and, more importantly, my work gets done, does my hair color matter anymore?
So far I’ve kept my pink streaks small and hidden them under my layers. Ultimately, change to any culture, even a work one, happens slowly. I do believe this is one change that will happen eventually. And when it does, you can bet I will show up Monday morning with bright pink hair.
Coming this week: a review of the product I used to dye my hair pink!

I think the pink in your hair is adorable…and I think if this were acceptable at work, I would so rock it too!
I LOVE the pink in your hair – so fun!

I love the pink, especially with the professional looking blazer! I think they balance each other out. Can’t wait to see what product you used, I need it (in blue) asap!
Here it is – and they have it in blue! I highly recommend it! http://www.sephora.com/color-hair-mascara-P312211?skuId=1417740
I think its cute, however, not sure if I could get away with it at my job! But for thwe weekend if it washes out, perfection!

my office does have a dress code. i’m not sure what it says about hair color, but i do know that if i showed up with pink hair, half my group would be horrified…sadly. i love yours and i think like you…if you are professionally dressed and get your work done, who cares??
I think the pink hair looks awesome on you! I think it stinks that we can’t always wear what we want and express who were are at work. Unless of course you’re working in a very casual, liberal place like a tattoo shop

I love the hair, and you look just gorgeous in that photo! I could totally rock wild colors at work- but that’s probably because I work from home
