outfit of the day: an alternative to colored jeans

I can’t wear jeans to work – so the colored denim trend has been a bust for me. Not to mention colored denim is reserved for skinny jean styles, which rarely fit me. I’m feeling a little left out of that trend – so colorful capris are the perfect anecdote.

Sweater (similar here) and capris, J. Crew
Shoes, Enzo Angiolini
Necklace, eBay

These pants (in this color!) are on sale at J. Crew – I highly recommend this color. Rich blue is a great alternative to navy, and it also goes with everything.

  5. I love that we’re both rocking animal print today. Great minds?

  6. Love the way you made the trend work for you! Skinny jeans don’t work for me either, so I’m going with various colors of high waisted flares. Nice work, lady!

  7. I am really digging the colored jeans too. Great way to sneak them into work without being called out!

  13. Who needs colored denim when you’ve got these fab capris in your closet?! This color blue is perfection on you and paired with the leopard print it’s just wow! Looking fab girl

  14. I have been thinking the same thing!! It is so frustrating that fun colorful denim is only in skinny skinny shapes. I have looked high and low for a pair of straight or boot cut jeans, to no avail.

May need to opt for some cute capris like these! Love the outfit!

  15. I love these MORE than colored skinnies – and I own several pairs of the skinnies! I love the way they work with that top :)

P.S. Are you doing a color of the month this month?

    • I’m actually not – I’m getting ready to upgrade my site, which means I have to do a bunch of prep work to get that going, and that is keeping me busy! I’m sorry I’m not doing one – but I promise I will next month!

  16. I love the cobalt pants (great sub for skinny jeans) and leopard together! I do think the black statement necklace is kind of getting lost in the pattern of the blouse though. I like the idea, but I think a gold necklace (or maybe white) might have stood out a bit more? Really like the combo overall though!
