I took advantage of some major discounts this month – LOFT’s great Friends and Family sale is one of my favorites – and stocked up on summer staples like a simple cotton black dress while also getting pieces that will transition into fall.
The wool skirts in particular were a great deal. I love J. Crew’s No. 2 pencil skirt, and even though they’re lined, I wear my wool ones year-round. Unlike their cotton counterparts, the wool skirts also don’t wrinkle after sitting down for five minutes. And best of all? I honestly cannot tell the difference between the retail skirts for $130 and the factory version, on sale for $79.50 plus an additional 20% off if you spend $125.
(Hint hint – the mustard color is perfect for this month, just in case there are any color challenges!)

I have been eyeing those pencil skirts in those exact same colors for a while! Mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors for fall…can’t wait for the color challenge!

Wow, you bought quite some great things in august! I love the red pants, they will be perfect for autumn! I’m trying at the moment to minimize (at least a bit) the volume (content?, what’s the right english word?) of my closet, and to have a bit less clothes…. So I made the project to only buy one new thing when i sold/threw away five, and yesterday I sold my fifth thing. But I can’t decide what to buy now…
