Back in May when I was visiting my family in Arizona, I went shopping with my aunt Karen – one of my favorite things to do with her. I bought the usual work clothes at J. Crew and then decided to try on dresses just in case. And that’s when I found a black halter dress that made me feel amazing and gave me hope for the future during a time when I wasn’t very hopeful. I buy clothes for a lot of reasons – necessity, they make me feel good, I love the color. But I’ve never bought a a dress because it gives me hope – until this one. I needed hopeful karma in a dress form, and it worked.

For months, the dress hung in my closet, all ready with no place to go. Then everything came together: the temperature soared (at least for us in early October), I had a date with a cute boy who makes me so happy and I knew exactly what I was going to wear.
It’s a wonderful thing to feel hopeful. This might be my favorite dress ever.
