As much as I believe in pampering oneself, I’m not very good at it. I always mess up a freshly-applied manicure, and I’m almost too ticklish for a pedicure. But I have always wanted to try a blowout – especially one from Drybar. I was lucky enough to spend last weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona, with my aunt and uncle and booked an appointment at Drybar after hearing so much about it from my New York friends (thanks Kelsey and Crissie!).
Drybar does blowouts – no cuts, no color, just beautifully blow-dried hair. After I checked in for my appointment (booked online, which I loved!), I was offered a drink. I chose citrus water in a cute stemless wine glass.
I had already looked at Drybar’s menu of blowout options (all named after drinks) and loved the volume of Southern Comfort with the curls of Cosmo. As my hair was shampooed, I also got a Floater – aka, a 10 minute scalp massage. It felt so good. After I picked out some girly magazines, I got to sit back and watch “The Lucky One” (yes, they play chick flicks in the salon! It’s like girly paradise!). Then it was time for styling!
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this – but here’s the before and the after shots!
So much volume and curls! As a girl with pathetically straight hair, I loved this look.
This is a day later – pre-three-hour flight. Still some volume, but the curls are dying.
And two days later, the volume remained, but RIP curls. I seriously hate my hair sometimes.
Still, I had a wonderful time getting my hair done. I’d recommend Drybar if you’ve never had a blowout or if you just want to treat yourself to a super-cute hairdo. Now if I could only figure out how to recreate that blowout at home!
