I love fall colors – especially ones that goes with so much. Plum, burgundy, eggplant or aubergine might be one of my favorites – and I can’t wait to see your outfits so I can find new ways to wear plum!

I am so ready for fall colors – but I think mustard/goldenrod/dark yellow is a great fall color that actually works all year! I can’t wait to see your mustard outfits – and get inspired to create some cute ones of my own.

I haven’t been able to find a peplum top yet, but I love how the belt gives this lace top (a hand-me-down from my mom!) a hint of peplum. The belt over a top or cardi look rarely works for me, but this time I felt great all day. Although note to self: take outfit photos before skirt gets all wrinkly. I have pretty good luck with the retail No. 2 pencil skirts staying smooth all day, but the factory versions definitely don’t have as much wool – and don’t stay as nice.
And of course I wore this skirt on purpose – this month’s color challenge is mustard! I can’t get enough of this fabulous fall color and have rounded up a few pieces to give you ideas for your fabulous outfits that somehow incorporate mustard, goldenrod, chartreuse and any other variance of this great color! Even though this is traditionally a fall shade, I know I”ll be wearing my mustard skirt all year.

Whew! It’s already Thursday, but it’s my first day back in the swing of normal life, whatever that is. I’ve been on the beach since Saturday, spending my days just off the coast of Captiva Island and my nights eating my way through grouper and tuna and shrimp and any other seafood I can get my hands on.
It was a wonderful – and much needed – vacation. Seriously: I hadn’t been to the beach in seven years. That’s too long for anyone!
I had a wonderful time – but I am so glad to be home.
And I’m also glad to announce the July Color Challenge! This month’s color: pink!
Pink is obviously one of my favorite colors. It just screams happy to me. From the palest ballet pink to deep fuchsia, pink dominates my wardrobe. But lately I’m focusing on bright carnation pink – like this blazer that’s already one of my favorite pieces.
