Pantone officially named emerald as their color of 2013 – and I’ve since been inspired to add some emerald to my wardrobe. It’s a beautiful color that looks great on everyone and everything! I have my eye on the Essie nail polish and J. Crew shell.

What emerald items will you be buying this season?

announcing the first color challenge!

I’ve wanted to start a fun way to feature bloggers for a while – while also getting some inspiration from your outfits. To that end, I’m so excited to announce the first Color Challenge! Every month I’ll feature a different color or pattern to be included in your outfit in some way.

I bet you’ll never guess what this month’s color is!

In order to participate, all you have to do is email me a recent post (a week old or less) that includes this month’s color, along with a link to the post and a photo of your outfit. Submissions for this month’s Color Challenge are due June 18 at midnight EST. Please link back to my blog on the post you chose – here’s a button for you!

This month’s color: aqua! Whether it’s in your accessories or your clothes, aqua reminds me of swimming in a pool on a hot summer day. I can’t wait to see your aqua outfits!

orange is your friend

I wear orange a lot (see here, here and here, not to mention my favorite lipstick), and every time I do, someone always comments, “I could never pull off orange! That’s such a hard color.”

Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Repeat after me: orange is your friend.

Orange brings out the natural color in your cheeks and lips. It goes with a multitude of colors (navy blue, pink and white, to name a few). It gives you confidence – even if you’re just faking at first. Trust me: you won’t be by the end of the day. You CAN pull off orange in one of its many shades and variations. I promise.

I wanted to feature as many of my favorite bloggers as possible in one of my favorite colors, but I had some trouble finding orange outfit pics. GIRLS. Shame. Get some orange in your closet, stat.

KK from but shopping makes me happy

KK and I have something in common, besides our abhorrence 0f pantyhose – we both love orange. KK is consistently featuring this color on her blog, and understandably so – she always looks fabulous in it! Bonus points for the turquoise cocktail ring – that color combo makes me so happy, I could sing. And can I just marvel at the amazingness that is the proportions created by this dress? KK is so good at doing that. Perfection.

Marie from Make the World a Prettier Place

Orange with cerulean blue, people – take note, this is one of the best combos of orange ever. I am obsessed with everything about this outfit. Bright coral orange is an extremely flexible color that paired with an adorable dress like this one can be dressed up or down.

Katy from Sugar and Chiffon

Katy does orange so well – and this jacket is the perfect statement piece for work or weekend! LOVE the ankle pants with the cropped cut of the jacket, and look at that beautiful color of orange with her hair! Listen up, brunettes – look how great orange will look on you!

Caitlin from Wore Out

Of course Caitlin has the best orange feature – her GORGEOUS hair! I’ve only been jealous of her hair from the first time I read her blog. She’s added another pop of orange to this outfit – her pumps. I love how bright they are, and how much they add to the outfit with their color alone. Orange accessories like shoes, bags and necklaces are perfect for those of you starting out on your journey to Loving Orange. Just don’t combine the three.

Lora from Madam Donut

Can we all just stop for a moment and marvel at this dress and how much Lora is rocking it? (Also – it’s vintage OSCAR DE LA RENTA. I KNOW, RIGHT?!) One of the best parts about Lora’s style is how effortlessly she pulls off hard-to-wear (to me) vintage pieces. This dress is no exception, but she looks beyond fabulous in it. The pattern is so cool, it gives me goosebumps.

Hailey from Jimpricute

HAILEY. GURL. She is rocking an ORANGE PANTSUIT, people. Hailey, there is no other way to put this: you are fucking awesome.
