outfit of the day: a summer dress for fall, part one

Dress, Moulinette Soeurs via Anthropologie • blazer, LOFT • wedges, Target

It is unseasonably warm here – seriously, 80 this week and we may get snow on Halloween. Thus is life in Indiana. I might as well enjoy it, because it’s back to tights this weekend.

The absolute easiest way to wear a summer dress in the fall: throw on a blazer. This week I plan on pulling my warm weather dresses out one last time (maybe?) and showing how you can stretch your summer wardrobe into the fall.

outfit of the day: finally cool enough to wear blazers

Ok, don’t get me wrong – I’ve been wearing blazers all summer (the air conditioning is ridiculous in my office – anyone else have this problem?). But usually they come off the second I step outside. Today was definitely not one of those days. Man I love fall .

Blazer, J. Crew • Sweater, J. Crew Outlet • Pants, Ann Taylor • Necklace, LOFT • Shoes, Target

I’ve been looking for a pair of dark plum cords for my fall wardrobe and am so in love with these pants from Ann Taylor. They’re flattering and will work with boots or heels equally well. (Plus they’re on sale!)

outfit of the day: i can’t get enough of this blazer

If I had to pick one piece of clothing to keep and wear for the rest of my life, it might be this blazer. I’m sure this will come as a surprise to none of you.

Blazer, H&M
Shell, Talbots
Pants, J. Crew
Shoes, J. Crew Outlet

Every time I wear this blazer, I get comments about how bright it is – which I love. But it also makes me kind of sad, because I wish more people, especially in the corporate world, would wear bright colors One of these days, I’m going to wear this blazer with my neon pink skirt and really blow people’s minds.

Don’t forget – you can still enter my jewelry giveaway! And coming tomorrow – the September Color Challenge link-up! I can’t wait to see your fabulous mustard outfits!

Linking up with The Pleated Poppy!

outfit of the day: i love this pink blazer

I have been waiting to recreate this look for over a year. I wore black with my pink blazer last time, and I think I like white much better. Oh I love this blazer so much I could dance. (Don’t worry; I won’t.)

Shoes, Lauren Ralph Lauren
Bracelets, J. Crew and Tiffanys

I decided to let my hair be all natural this morning (aka no straightener or curling iron). The next time I do that, someone PLEASE stop me.

I’m linking up with Marionberry Style for her Trend of the Month challenge tomorrow. This is the first challenge I’ve been able to participate in, and I’m so excited! Thanks Marion for doing this!

outfit of the day: pink blazer ftw!

I finally got a pink blazer! Ever since this gorgeous outfit (and god help me, I will be recreating it ASAP), the pink blazer had joined the ranks of red jeans in my Elusive Clothing shopping list – until I braved not one but TWO H&Ms in Arizona (seriously, that store both scares and overwhelms me). The first didn’t have my size, and when I found that the second only had two pink blazers, I figured I was out of luck again – until the Fashion Gods smiled down and one of the blazers was indeed in the size I needed. Sweet victory, it feels so good.

Blazer, H&M

Shell, AK Anne Klein
Pants, J. Crew
Shoes, Enzo Angiolini
Clutch, Target

Hair’s looking pretty curly, right? Exciting stuff! (Yes, I do lead a thrilling life.) I tried my clampless curling iron, only to remember why I love it so much minus the burns. Curls all day!

I also owe you all a hair products review post, thanks to the hair advice you gave me. Working on that. Er, maybe after I pay my current credit card bill?

outfit of the day: sparkle with that blazer

Monday was (I hope) the last really cold day of the season. (Of course now that I’ve said that, it will be cold again.) Before it got warm, I wanted to wear an outfit I had come up with on Christmas, but never gotten to wear.

Blazer, J. Crew
Shirt, J. Crew
Pants, J. Crew
Necklace, J. Crew
Shoes, Nine West Outlet

Yeah, I sometimes think of my outfits months in advance. Thus is the burden of being fashion-obsessed.

outfit of the day: blazers make everything better

You all probably think I wear nothing but pink, right? Ok, I admit you’re partially correct.

Blazer, LOFT

Tee, J. Crew Outlet
Skirt, J. Crew
Boots, Talbots
Necklace, J. Crew

What can I say? Pink is fun. And clothes should be fun, too. Deep, I know.

Belted blazers: how do we feel about them?

Blazer, thrifted

Tee, Banana Republic
Skirt, Talbots
Boots, Talbots
Belt, J. Crew
Necklace, gift from my dad

This blazer came from my first thrifting experience. I love it, but it’s a little boxy, so I thought belting it would give it a different look.

Yup. Totally went out and bought that nail polish I was wishing for last weekend.

When in doubt, go cutesy. Foolproof photo-posing method, I swear.

outfit of the day: the monet dress

I was shopping at LOFT a few years ago and saw this dress on major clearance. The first time I wore it, my boyfriend told me it reminded him of a Monet painting, and the title was born.

Blazer, Target
Boots, Talbots

Notice anything else about this outfit? I’m breaking my own stupid fashion rules by wearing boots before October. Why do I have this as a rule? No clue. I have a lot of really dumb fashion rules: no sandals before April (because March is not a spring month), no Uggs unless it’s below 40 out and no jeans when it’s above 80. Even though I live in a place where the weather routinely varies by day by about 25 degrees, I still make up these stupid rules because I like to fool myself into believing I live in a state with predictable weather.

Thank you so much Annie for taking these pics!

*These rules only apply to me. Please do not think I’m judging you because you’re wearing tights in August. If anything, I’m probably thinking, Damn, she’s got to be freaking overheated right about now.
