holiday outfit: festive at work

Banana Republic velvet trim cardigan • Talbots lace skirt • Target Maye black patent heels • J. Crew polka dot sequin top • Banana Republic floral lace tights • Ann Taylor pearlized bow brooch necklace

No need to stop celebrating the holidays at work – add a little festive cheer to your outfits with luxe details like lace and velvet. Bold red and purple makes a fashion statement – and each piece can be mixed again into a different outfit. Wear this look during the day, and easily transition to an evening office party. I treated myself to the J. Crew polka dot sequin top in black and can’t wait to layer it under blouses – and I just got the Target shoes in and have to say they are the most comfortable heels I own!

holiday outfit recipe: new year’s sparkle

During December, I’ll be featuring outfit recipes perfect for the holiday season. This week – a knockout outfit to ring in the New Year!

1. Talbots wool-blend sheath, $159
2. Forever 21 blue blazer, $27.80
3. Lulu Townsend sequined clutch, $39
4. Ellen Tracy peep-toe pump, $49.95
5. Old Navy black tights, $6.50
6. Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl’s multistrand necklace, $38

I tried to work with a basic LBD – a piece every woman (hopefully) owns. A simple black dress is transformed with a funky blazer and some sparkly accessories. All these pieces are wearable again in different ways. I own the Vera Wang for Kohl’s necklace and wear it all the time (and it’s even on sale!).

New Year’s has never been my favorite holiday. Maybe it’s because of the Christmas letdown. But give me an outfit with some sparkle, and I’m a happy girl.

Have you entered my giveaway for a dainty gold necklace? It ends tonight at midnight EST!

holiday outfit recipe: preppy festive

During December, I’ll be featuring outfit recipes perfect for the holiday season. This week – the perfect party outfit!

1. J. Crew perfect tartan shirt, $78
2. Assets by Target bowtie tights, $16
3. J. Crew red glitter pumps, $228
4. White House, Black Market poofy taffeta skirt, $88

This outfit has been in my head for years. My mom has an annual Christmas party, and I’ve worn everything from major sparkles to my red bridesmaid dress to it. But this has been the outfit I really want to wear. Someday!

The most important part of party outfits like this one is that you can wear each piece again. If you’re going to invest in $200+ pumps (and believe me, I’m waiting until these puppies go on sale), you should be able to wear them with multiple colors, outfits and styles.

holiday outfit recipe: office party

During December, I’ll be featuring outfit recipes perfect for the holiday season. This week – the perfect outfit for your office party!

1. American Eagle boyfriend tuxedo blazer, $79.50
2. Old Navy black leopard-print tights, $9.50
3. Banana Republic gathered bootie, $180
4. LOFT gray sequined shell, $59.50
5. Gap velvet skirt, $59.95

Transitioning from the office to the office party is easy – just pick classic pieces with a twist. The blazer features leather lapels, while the shell has subtle sparkle. Add a velvet pencil skirt and patterned tights, and you’ve got an outfit that works all day – and into the evening. This outfit also allows you to go without the blazer – the shell itself is fun and festive! Red lipstick optional, but recommended.

I’ll be sharing what I wore to my office party later this week!

the perfect basic work look.

If your workplace is more conservative, wear a plain-colored blouse and add pearls. If you can dress down a little, try a dressy tee with chunky jewelry and a skirt in a lighter material. On Fridays, I substitute the black skirt with a denim pencil skirt.  j’adore.

Blouse: J. Crew
Skirt: Express
Jewelry: Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl’s
Shoes: Merona for Target

Please note – I don’t get paid to wear any of the clothes on my blog. Sadly. If I ever get lucky enough to be given clothes, I would tell you. Hell, you’ll probably hear me yelling about it because I would be that excited. I will gladly accept any and all free clothes.

Also – I’m working on the picture thing. I know they suck. Still learning.

My dog Horatio couldn’t stand Travis and I in the backyard without petting him. And he loves having his picture taken.
