outfit of the day: corporate pattern mixing

Stripes and polka dots mix together for a fun work outfit

Every time I mix patterns, I’m always a little worried it’s too much – which makes NO sense, because I love too-much outfits! Still, even when there’s a lot going on, mixing the same colors together still makes a relatively simple outfit.

Speaking of which – I’ve let outfit photos slip lately, and that makes me sad. Well, no more. Even when life is busy, it’s important to make time for your hobbies. Mine just happens to be posing in my outfits next to the trash cans in the alley.

It’s pattern mixing for Monday’s outfit! I’m envisioning an outfit repeat in the summer with just the blouse and skirt. I love how neutral this blouse is, and how well it works with just about anything!

Also – can we talk about a-line skirts? I’m obsessed with this shape, but there are SO few of them available! I’m partial to my beloved No. 2 skirts from J. Crew, but darn it, I wish there were more a-line skirts available. Anyone found good ones for spring?

And just for fun: an outtake. I call this “Drama Queen: I Have Reached the Point of Hangry.”

I have reached the point of hangry

outfit of the day: two patterns, aka the most boring post title ever

Give me a break. Would you have rather me called this post “Pattern DJ” (because I mix patterns, not tracks!). I didn’t think so. That’s beyond corny, even an Indiana girl like me.

Ok, I’ll stop.

Yeah, dancing. Not a good dancer.

Did I pick too hard of a color for this month’s Color Challenge? Because I’ve gotten ONE submission (thanks Ashley!). I know it’s only been two days, but I am completely impatient and excited to feature you fabulous bloggers. Send me your links and photos!

I love the look of disbelief on people’s faces when I tell them there’s a sock in my (hair) bun. It’s true – sock buns rock, at least when I can get them to work for me. Which is rare.

Did you know you can connect with me on Facebook? I try to answer any and every question, both there, here and on Twitter. Plus I like it when people like me my blog page.  (Yes, I am pathetically soliciting for Facebook likes. They make me happy.)

My newest Marie Claire column on matchy-matchy outfits was posted yesterday – do you like matchy-matchy looks? (And do I say matchy-matchy too much in the post?)
