It’s pattern mixing for Monday’s outfit! I’m envisioning an outfit repeat in the summer with just the blouse and skirt. I love how neutral this blouse is, and how well it works with just about anything!

Also – can we talk about a-line skirts? I’m obsessed with this shape, but there are SO few of them available! I’m partial to my beloved No. 2 skirts from J. Crew, but darn it, I wish there were more a-line skirts available. Anyone found good ones for spring?

And just for fun: an outtake. I call this “Drama Queen: I Have Reached the Point of Hangry.”

I have reached the point of hangry

outfit post: yipes! stripes!

One of my favorite parts of fashion is following the trends year to year. While I may not always like them, it’s fun to try new things – and see what works for me and what doesn’t. This sweater was bought last year but fits perfectly with the bold stripes trend – or jailbreak stripes, as I love to call them – that everyone is predicting to be big this year.

new post: stripes in pink (and blue)

A new top (that I found on sale!) means a great excuse to pull out my favorite neon skirt.

Top, Talbots
Skirt, J. Crew
Wedges, RALPH Ralph Lauren

While I don’t like totally matchy-matchy outfits, I love it when I find pieces from completely different stores that work perfectly together.

I also think pink and navy is one of my favorite color combos ever. That’s saying something, even for me.

outfit of the day: summer stripes

I’ve had this outfit planned since last year when I bought this dress and belt on major sale. No idea why I waited this long to wear it.

Dress and belt, Talbots

Blazer and shoes, LOFT
Necklace, J. Crew Outlet

I replied to a comment from Lora a few blog posts ago that I very rarely wear neutrals – my outfits usually always have two three four pops of color. It’s just what I default to in the morning. (Usually in pink.) I have a ridiculous worry that my outfits will be boring – maybe that’s why brights are my go-to. While this outfit might be made up of mostly neutrals, I don’t think it’s boring at all – and I couldn’t resist but add pops of color through my jewelry!

In case you missed it, my Marie Claire column was posted yesterday – all about the guilt of spending money on non-work clothes. Anyone relate to that?

Whether big and bold or subtle and hidden, stripes are always classic. They’re also easy to mix with other patterns. Colorblocking mixed with stripes is one of my favorite looks for spring, and I can’t wait to incorporate more stripes into my outfits!
